NORD Gear Corporation’s Sealed Surface Conversion system (NSDtupH) protects aluminum alloy housings with an ultra-hard, scratch, and corrosion resistant surface that is a cost effective alternative to stainless steel. NSDtupH treated units have proven their resistance to blistering per ASTM D714, corrosion per ASTM D610-08, and scratches per ASTM D1654-08 according to ISO 2409. Additionally, an ASTM D3170 Gravelometer test showed absolutely no loss of adhesion or chipping and the ASTM B117-09 salt spray tests produced no corrosion even after 2,000 hours.
NSDtupH treatment is approved for food applications according to FDA Title 21 CFR 175.300. Treated gearboxes are protected against cleaning agents in the pH2 to Ph12 range and are suitable for use in many harsh environments such as chemical wash down, coastal, food & beverage, car wash, pharmaceutical and many more. The corrosion and chip resistant surface protects the gearboxes from scratches and blemishes ultimately protecting customer product from contamination.
In harsh environments, NSDtupH can be used without the service and maintenance costs associated with painted units. The comprehensive NORD gearbox program allows for custom gearbox configurations tailored specifically meeting your particular demands.
