JOB DESCRIPTION:

Job Position: Application Engineer
Department: Sales
Reporting to: Internal Sales and App. Eng. Manager
Employees that report to this position: None

Mission:

Application Engineer works to actively drive and manage the mechanical/electronical evaluation stage of the sales process. Working in conjunction with the field sales team as the key technical advisor, the Application Engineer must be able to identify and provide reliable solutions for all technical issues to assure complete customer satisfaction through all stages of the sales process.

KEY TASKS:

  • He/She take care of the customers (both external and internal) technical requests using the company structure and tools, defining the proper technical product selection, fully understanding the scope of supply and the customer specifications.
  • He/she shall coordinate the information flow from and to customers, interacting with them and with the internal resources in charge to allow/facilitate/support the sale.
  • He/she will use the SAP tool, in order to open T-Tasks or E-Tasks to the Headquarters, according with the Nord corporate roles, ensuring that every technical request will be solved in an effective way.
  • He/she will interact with German colleagues within the Headquarters to get the necessary support to solve any issue related to technical aspects of the sales process and to solve any open issue related to the product.
  • Under the guidance of the Internal Sales / Application Engineering Manager shall also be involved in the sales processes in conjunction side by side with the Internal/External Sales staff.
  • He/She is an active participant in the company’s suggestion, quality, efficiency, and cost savings programs.

Electronic specific tasks:

  • He/She promotes drives solutions and servo systems in collaboration with sales business developers
  • He/She collects information on the potential market and identify the needs about products/solutions of the application sector in his/her Area. Has an active role in the launch of new products and solutions in basis on the marketing strategies of head quarter.
  • Define the product configurations and collaborate to identify the sales conditions (together the sales business developers and sales manager) to win every sales opportunity.
  • Make scouting of new potential customer to increase the volume of opportunities.
  • Support the customer in commissioning activities of our drives and in every after sales activities, also in collaboration with our Customer Application engineering department.
  • Develop solution of Motion control to satisfy the application requests

Education and other skills:

  • Bachelor or Master degree in technical subjects (mechanical or electronical)
  • Several years of experience as Application Engineer in the Power Transmission industry.
  • Excellent verbal communication is required to manage excellent relationship with customers and internal colleagues.
  • Cooperative working style combined with the willingness to contribute to the sales team’s effort.
  • A problem solving attitude is essential to make sure to firstly understand and finally satisfy the individual customer needs and requirements.
  • A basic understanding of market/business development, general market investigation, market analysis and segmentation techniques are needed
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Windows and MS-Office software, experiences in SAP or similar ERP systems and basic knowledge in CRM systems would be preferred.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English.

Training needs:

  • Technical training on the products
  • If needed, training in English language

Job Position: Area Sales Manager – Regione Lombardia
Department: Sales
Reporting to: Managing Director Sales

Mission:

Area Sales Manager develops and implements a sufficient and sustainable sales, marketing and growth strategy within the given sales territory according to the company’s overall sales strategy, considering the special local requirements and customer needs.

He/Her identifies and develops new potential sales accounts and business opportunities within the given sales territory and gains customer acceptance by explaining and demonstrating Nord’s innovative product portfolio.

He/Her actively contributes to business/market development within the given sales territory and supports customers preparing quotations and negotiating technically and commercially sales contracts.

KEY TASKS:

  • Acquisition of new customers, preparation and submission of quotations to customers (incl. customer and distributor visits to follow up quotations/projects on a regular base)
  • Responds to customer enquiries timely to ensure a high customer satisfaction and hit rate.
  • Prepares and conducts sales presentations of products to new and existing customer (customer visits).
  • Provides solid support to key customers and their project management. Negotiates and establishes reasonable pricing in accordance with NORD’s standard procedure.
  • Develops and implements sales activities and fulfilment of annual / quarterly / monthly sales plan according to the Sales Managing Director’s requirements.
  • Assists and supports in business maintenance with other existing customers when needed or required by the management.
  • Submits efficient & accurate business reports and sales forecasts on time; adds actively data about the own daily sales activities to the CRM system and monitors/reviews constantly the stored information within the local CRM system. Data quality and up-to-datedness has the highest priority.
  • Evaluates margins of low margin customers and develop strategies to increase the margin. Account receivables follow up.
  • Prepares market and competitor investigation/analysis reports for the given sales territory. Identifies the total sales potential of existing and new target customers.
  • Makes a first failure/damage assessment of potential after sales and service cases at the side of customers or end user within his designated sales territory.
  • Other duties as assigned by the management from time to time.

KEY TASKS:

  • Drive strategies according with the management and internal customer needs
  • Price negotiation
  • Management of the Total Cost of Ownership
  • Maintain and share with Supplier the Vendor Rate in order to improve service and performance
  • Risk management: plan of contingency actions to ensure continuity of business and production
  • Scouting of new suppliers / technologies
  • Improvement of commercial conditions, including supplier quality and lead time
  • Continuous benchmark, allocation of business through best conditions selection
  • Manage Technical Changes in alignment with Material Management
  • Preparation and Negotiation of frame contract/LTA with selected suppliers

Education and other skills:

  • Bachelor degree in economic or engineering
  • Minimum of 5 years in similar role
  • Fluent in written and spoken English.
  • Deep knowledge of Excel
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Windows and MS-Office software, experiences in SAP or similar ERP systems
  • Knowledge of the market and of the prices of raw materials
  • A problem solving attitude
  • A good interpersonal skill set is required.
