The German drive technology manufacturer NORD DRIVESYSTEMS Group was founded in 1965 and is headquartered in Hamburg, Germany. It specializes in the manufacture and sale of gear units, NORD motors, and frequency inverters. Today, NORD DRIVESYSTEMS Group operates eight advanced production facilities across five continents, supplying drive components; 36 branches provide ample inventory, assembly, technical support, and customer service; and around 5,000 NORD employees worldwide provide customized drive solutions.

Since officially entering the Chinese market in 2005, NORD DRIVESYSTEMS Group has invested in and established modern assembly and production bases in Suzhou, Tianjin, Yizheng, and other locations. As of 2026, NORD China has approximately 1,000 employees. NORD (China) Transmission Equipment Co., Ltd. was registered and established in Suzhou Industrial Park in 2004. With a total site area of 65,000 square meters, it comprises a gear unit assembly plant and a motor production plant. NORD (Tianjin) Transmission Equipment Co., Ltd., located in the Wuqing Development Zone in Tianjin, covers an area of 12,666 square meters and consists of a gear unit assembly plant, meeting the needs of customers in northern China. NORD (Jiangsu) Transmission Equipment Co., Ltd., located in Yizheng, Jiangsu Province, covers an area of 67,000 square meters and officially commenced production in September 2023. In addition, NORD has 27 sales branches across China.
