PRG agitators with industrial gear units from NORD

The example of PRG shows what this looks like in practice. PRG Präzisions-Rührer GmbH from Warburg is one of the world's leading suppliers of agitator technology, agitators and agitator systems and relies on a close partnership with NORD. The precision agitators for Europe's largest biomethane plant, which is currently being built on the Küstenkanal near Friesoythe in Lower Saxony, also come from PRG. They are equipped with ATEX-compliant industrial gear units from the MAXXDRIVE® series, which were specially adapted by NORD for the particularly high requirements of the biogas fermenter agitators. With the optimisations made, NORD has succeeded in further increasing the reliability of the agitator and mixer drives and significantly extending the maintenance intervals of the components.

Post & parcel / airport

Parcel logistics and airport technology require numerous highly-efficient drive solutions with decentralised frequency inverters and high reliability. Particularly for these requirements, NORD’s LogiDrive® solutions are available in different versions.

Warehouse

Efficient drives for warehouse logistics: Drive solutions from the NORD modular system can be individually and flexibly adjusted to the requirements of horizontal and vertical conveyor systems. They are characterised by their energy efficiency.

Food & Beverage

NORD DRIVESYSTEMS offers drive technology for different process steps – from handling and conveying to packaging. Additionally, NORD has developed a unique corrosion protection particularly for aluminium drives – nsd tupH surface treatment.

Bakery

Mixing & agitating

MAXXDRIVE® industrial gear unitsconvince with high output torques and guarantee smooth operation also under demanding operating conditions. Specifically for agitators, NORD has developed the SAFOMI-IEC adapter , which increases operational reliability and reduces maintenance effort.

Crane & cargo

The most stringent demands to positioning, start-up and smooth motion with simultaneous movements of cranes and trolleys determine the drive solutions for cranes. NORD sells tailor-made drives for this purpose and offers the MAXXDRIVE® XD, a special gear unit with long centre distances for lifting equipment.

Bulk materials

NORD develops and manufactures drives for bucket elevators, belt and screw conveyors and other transport systems. Particularly for the
bulk material industry , the company designed the MAXXDRIVE® XT for applications that require low ratios combined with high powers.

Components with improved efficiency

What the NORD solutions for all industries have in common is the optimisation of the drive components in terms of energy efficiency. “We are continuously working on improving the efficiency of our components so we can offer powerful and, at the same time, economical products to our customers”, Jörg Niermann, Head of Marketing, emphasises.

Reducing the carbon footprint

A study by the Mechanical Engineering Industry Association VDMA and the management consultancy Boston Consulting Group has shown that innovative technologies in mechanical engineering and plant construction can help to reduce CO2 emissions in the entire industry by up to 86 percent. This is what NORD DRIVESYSTEMS builds on with its solutions. “We want to support our customers in using their savings potential, operating their systems in an increasingly resource-saving way and thus reducing their carbon footprint”, Niermann says.

Efficiency of up to 95 percent

High energy savings are, for example, realised by NORD’s IE5+ synchronous motor, which achieves an efficiency of up to 95 percent, or the patented DuoDrive gear unit/motor combination. In this case, an IE5+ synchronous motor was integrated into a single-stage helical gear unit. Calculated across the system, one of the highest efficiencies for this power class in the market can be achieved: up to 92 percent.
