The New Modular System From NORD

Conveyor systems used by e-commerce providers, parcel distribution centers, and airport baggage handling operations rely on decentralized drive solutions controlled close to the motor or mounted directly on it. However, performance requirements, functional scope, and mounting type often do not align. The result is additional components, extra cabling, and unnecessary installation effort. NORD addresses these challenges with a modular system designed to align with your application requirements while maintaining consistency across components.

Energy-Efficient Motors:
- IE3 asynchronous motor
- IE5+ synchronous motor
Decentralized Variable Frequency Drives:
- NORDAC FUSION consisting of NORDAC ON for 0.37–3.7 kW (motor mounting and wall mounting) with IE3/IE5+ motor; also available with NORDAC PURE for demanding environments (with NXD tupH® finish for hygiene-friendly operation);
- NORDAC LINK for 0.37 to 7.5 kW (wall mounting)

Consistency: Both variable frequency drives feature identical communication and safety functions. This allows flexible use based on your system architecture..
Functional Safety: Both variable frequency drives can be integrated into safety-related applications within an existing Industrial Ethernet network via PROFIsafe or FSoE. Numerous safety functions can be implemented without encoders. Safety-related peripherals can be integrated with the devices via safe inputs and outputs.
Encoderless Control: Both variable frequency drives eliminate the need for rotary encoders in synchronous motors. With the CFC open-loop injection method, NORD enables precise control of dynamic applications.

NORDAC ON and NORDAC LINK variable frequency drives now feature Safety over Ethernet and integrated safe inputs and outputs. This enables:

Simple integration via PROFIsafe or FSoE without additional connections
Integrated safety functions STO, SS1-t (each SIL 3, PL e) and SS1-r, SLS, SMS, and SSM (each SIL 2, PL d) without any encoders
Direct connection of safety-related peripheral components and functions such as emergency stop buttons, safety door switches, light barriers, and warning lights without additional hardware
