NORD’s new modular system: More flexibility for system design
With its modular system of consistent decentralised drive electronics and efficient motors,
NORD DRIVESYSTEMS
enables more freedom in system design. The basis: the NORDAC LINK and NORDAC ON frequency inverters, which now feature identical communication and safety functions. This makes them flexible in use.

NORD’s new modular system comprises the
asynchronous IE3
and
synchronous IE5+ motors
, and two decentralised frequency inverters:
NORDAC ON
in the power range from 0.37 to 3.7 kW for wall mounting and motor mounting, and
NORDAC LINK
for power ranges from 0.37 to 7.5 kW for wall mounting. Both have identical communication and safety functions that have been extensively expanded by NORD.
New level of functional safety
The frequency inverters feature Ethernet on board and can be integrated into fail-safe applications using PROFIsafe or FSoE. Numerous safety functions (STO, SS1-t, SS1-r, SLS, SMS and SSM) are already integrated and are implemented without encoder. Thanks to safe inputs and outputs, fail-safe components such as emergency stop buttons or photoelectric sensors can be directly connected.
Lean system design with less wiring
This provides users with more flexibility in the system design. Thanks to the consistency, they have free choice between frequency inverters for motor mounting or wall mounting. The integrated functions furthermore reduce wiring efforts. Overall, NORD enables lean architectures with enhanced performance.
