Reliable Performance Without External Control

Treif Cutting Machines

The Challenge: Treif develops and manufactures equipment and systems for cutting food products. While conventional relays and contactors had been used for many years, the goal was to simplify blade pressure control while improving precision by using NORDAC PRO variable frequency drives.

The Solution: In this standalone application, the integrated PLCs in two NORDAC PRO variable frequency drives manage the entire control process. All I/O is connected directly to the drives, with communication handled through the CANopen system bus. Two safety relays provide functional safety using Safe Torque Off (STO).

The Result: The NORDAC PRO variable frequency drives make the cutting machines more functional, easier to operate, and more productive. At the same time, the application requires significantly fewer components.

It was only with our control cabinet variable frequency drives that Treif found a system with PLC capabilities that was both economically compelling and, thanks to its built-in intelligence, allowed for the free programming of drive-related control functions.
