The standards for the food industry, chemical industry, and the pharmaceutical industry call for intensive, strict washing, and disinfection processes.

In order to prevent material destruction by cleaning agents and disinfectants, the design and coating of machines for these applications must be smooth and ensure the best possible cleanability in manual or automated cleaning cycles.

NORD DRIVESYSTEMS has introduced new solutions (in terms of materials, treatment and processing) for the surfaces of motors, gears, and components while offering a protection package with exceptional resistance to cleaning agents typically used in food, chemical, and pharmaceutical industries.

How It Works

Modern gearboxes must be robust, compact, powerful, economical, and light. The advantage of aluminum is its low weight, because weight is a cost factor, especially when the gear itself is a load that must be moved as part of an automated positioning system. For this reason, aluminum alloy has become the preferred material for gearboxes in many areas.

NORD DRIVESYSTEMS improves many of the optimal properties that an aluminum alloy offers for NORD gear housings. The material also has a certain inherent corrosion resistance and does not need additional protection in all cases. At the very least, an aluminum case is a much better conductor of heat than one made of cast iron. The resulting low operating temperatures have a beneficial effect on the internal transmission components and allow a longer service life.
